Hi there,

I have last downloaded with Jaksta in July. I tried again today on Arte+7. It was giving me a network error on Arte+7 website whenever I was trying to do so. On the Jaksta side, I was only getting unreadable m4a files. I have tried with several browsers. At best, I get a never ending series of small downloads which get discarded (around 1.5Mo).

I thought it was coming from Jaskta not being up-to-date so I've downloaded the update. When I reach the end of the installation, I get an error message saying my installing has failed.

What's wrong? I only have 48 hours before the documentaries from Arte+7 disappear :)

Hello, I am finding the same problem using Jaksta with the Arte.fr website on my MacBook (OS El Capitan).
Jaksta is up-to-date (version 13-3-3) and I have tried streaming the Arte documentary using Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome browsers (all up-to-date too).
Any suggestion, please? BTW, Jaksta works fine with FranceInfo website for instance.
Bye for now,
Stéphane

Hi Céline/Stéphane,

Sorry for the slow response times over the Christmas break.

Can you try capturing from Arte.fr in the Firefox browser? It looks like the site itself detects monitoring and stops the video, however it does not seem to be able to do it when viewed in Firefox.

Thanks,

Ben

Hello Ben, thank you for returning to me. In the meantime I have tried various add-ons and I am not sure which one does what :

- videodownloadhelper

- greasymonkey

In any case, when opening the arte website on Mozilla, I now have for buttons/toggles under the video window so as to select language and quality, and then Jaksta rips the video onto the hard drive.

I hope this helps,

Stéphane

Hi Stéphane,

Thanks. There are a few websites that seem to be able to detect Jaksta and stop the playback. Using Firefox is the best way around this as it does not seem to provide the sites with this information, unlike Safari/Chrome.

Thanks,

Ben

Are Download Managers Illegal

Hello Ben, thanks for your advice. Firefox worked for a while, but now... I can at best download the ads before the program (which are then discarded automatically), yet the combination of Firefox, Greasy Monkey and Jaksta no longer works for me.
I have just started another thread as I did not know how to get back to this conversation. If you are a moderator, you may want to merge the two. Sorry!
Any suggestion regarding Arte.tv, please?
Bye for now

Liam

Hi again Stephane,

Just posting the same answer here to tidy up this thread.

Are you running the latest version of Jaksta? If not, then try updating.

And have you tried other browsers at any point? If not, try them and see if you get the same result.

And are you running a VPN? If you are, try turning it off as they can often interfere with web traffic and streaming downloads.

If the problem continues, can you please send us a log file. You can find it in Jaksta by going into Preferences > General > Find Log File

Hi Liam,

I'm coming back to my first post with some delay.

My Jaksta version is up to date. I'm running El Capitan 10.11.4. When I try to use Jaksta and Firefox, I always get the same error from Firefox: 'Your connection is not secure'. I cannot go around this adding exception, it will only stop when I shut Jaksta down. I had found a way around my issue by downloading Arte videos through this website: http://www.tv-replay.fr/. But now the issue has become the same as trying to download directly from Arte. It downloads an m4v file that contains only sound and that, most of the time, cannot be read at all by any player (though sometimes it can with VLC).

Thanks for the help!

Liam

Hi Celine,

Are Download Accelerators Safe

It is starting to look as if that particular site has somehow found a way to prevent Jaksta from capturing by configuring its streaming methods a certain way.

The good news is we are planning on releasing a new version of Jaksta in the next week, and when I test it with the beta it appears to download and play the files OK.

So my best suggestion is to wait until the update is released and then try again. It will be a paid update, as it is a new version, but it will be offered at a discounted price for existing users. You should receive a notification regarding an upgrade offer once it has been released.

Sorry I can't be of more help in the meantime.
